So sorry if this isn't allowed. Please remove if so. I need advice.
I got on Vyvanse about 6 months ago for ADD. It was a godsend and completely changed my life. I brute forced my way through college and my first year of medical school, then I've completely flourished in my second year of med school with Vyvanse. I felt normal. I could have a social life and balance everything important to me while still being in medical school. I started at the lowest dose and never even had to titrate up.
But I just changed insurances and have to set up a new appointment with a new PCP. My appointment isn't until Oct 31. Lo and behold, my Vyvanse ran out of refills, and my old psychiatrist just retired and is completely AWOL. I completely fucked up and now I'm cooked. I don't even know if my new PCP will re-write my old Vyvanse script without communication with my psych. If I have to wait 6 months for a psych referral for a disease I already know I have and was previously medicated for, I'm gonna get even more cooked.
I'm not sure how that PCP appointment is gonna go if I walk in and say "hey you don't know me at all but I take Vyvanse, my psych is missing, and I'm in a field where stimulant abuse is rampant and even expected. Just trust me bro." Like, Jesus, if that were my patient, I wouldn't even write that script. I've fallen through the cracks in all the worst ways.
I can barely type, I'm so unfocused. Please help. It's a battle to do basic shit like brush my teeth and shower. I was so thankful to finally feel normal that I adapted way too quickly. I forgot all my strategies that I used to rely on and now I have no idea what to do. I'm in medical school and getting ready to go into one of the hardest parts, I can't be like this.
Suggestions for CBT-type techniques to work with a stupid brain or other stimulants that I can get w/o Rx are very welcome.
