I do not have a good relationship with my mom. I love her but we're not close. We're trying to work on that.
I'm trying to talk to her about ADHD but she comes from a generation that did not think at all about mental health. Also, so helpful, our family is that classic guilt-based Irish catholicism with a sprinkle of German strictness thrown in for fun.
She clearly recognises all my symptoms. It's the label that's sticky for her. I am also talking to her and it's going slowly. But I thought a short video that's not too medical, but gives a simple explanation of what it is and why it's nothing to be afraid of, that she could watch in her own time, and maybe give her some food for thought, would help. Cherry on top would be a focus on for late stage diagnosis.
I have watched a bunch of videos and nothing seems to hit the right note.
Btw, sidebar, my mom may also have ADHD and maybe that could be good for her to think about.
Thank you!
