Hi all….I have recently been given a referal to see a psychiatrist by my GP. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder with danxiety disorder 30 - 35 years ago. I was prescribed 300mg of PRISTIQ (desvenlafaxine) daily and have been on this dose for 30 - 35 years. Apparently, this is quite a high dose?
During my first visit to the psyc, we discussed the possibility of me having ADHD (I think it was called ADD then?). Anyway I never followed it up as I thought it was all Hokey Pokey plus I couldn’t afford anymore time off work.
I went to see my GP as a lot of things I was doing started to really get me down. Not being able to concentrate, impulsivity, feelings of underachieving, frustration with not being able to focus etc etc. I’ve been like this all my life and I never really knew any different until now, when my GP mentioned the strong possibility that I may have ADHD.
I have several autoimmune diseases that I’m slowly losing my battle with which adds to my woes but, it is what it is I suppose. I am wondering if there is a cutoff age for treating ADHD? If there’s anyone over 70 on here, what medication were you put on? How are you now after being placed on medication? That’s all for now
