Been working with driving trains for the last eight years. Never been into an accident, never fucked up and got nothing but good reviews from my boss and my coworkers. Now while doing the yearly license exam, which we all have to do in order to be allowed to legally drive trains, my diagnosis came up for the first time as I was diagnosed as recently as July.
Now, I knew that if you're diagnosed with ADHD you're not allowed to take the tests to become a train driver. Which I figured didn't concern me since I've been doing it for so long without any issues. Now with my official diagnosis my boss is legally required to pass it onto the authorities, and is having my license put on pause until they make up their mind if I'm allowed to keep working or not.
FML. I sought help with my issues to make my life easier and more understandable, not to potentially lose my job. Hadn't I been honest and mentioned it, this would have been unknown until my medical checkup which is in four years.
Here's to hoping they let me keep my license because I'm good at doing my job. Don't want to go unemployed on today's market.
