Met with my doctor today, and I had been taking instant release of generic Adderall 30 mg/day (in 10 mg tablets). I told him 20 mg felt like the right dose for me. He recommended switching to extended release, 20 mg/day. I said I thought the way extended release worked (in a 20 mg dose), is that 10 is released instantly and 10 mg is coated in a time release. If this is the case, then heβs actually reducing my dose from 30 mg to 20 mg/day. But my doctor told me that I was incorrect: 20 mg extended release means 20 mg is instant, and 20 mg is released later.
I have already done my research and think he is wrong, no? If he prescribes me 20 mg Adderall XR, that is 10 mg instant, and 10 mg time release? Or, as the doctor said, is it 20 mg instant and 20 mg time release? Thanks for any help or clarity you may offer in this matter.
