Can stimulant meds really help with sleep issues?

Post Body

Hey all, I'm 33 years old and finally made the decision that my ADHD is debilitating enough to seek meds. I have a whole host of symptoms, but perhaps the most intrusive one right now is sleep issues. I generally don't have much trouble falling asleep, but my issue comes early in the morning (4am or so) when I wake up with racing thoughts and need to get up. I end up not getting enough sleep, my sleep is "shallow", and it snowballs into the next night, and so on. I have already solved my anxiety issues with Lexapro, so these racing thoughts tend to just be formless or mundane.

I have my third psych appointment on Thursday where we will decide which medication is right for me. I've been leaning towards Vyvanse for a number of reasons, and I'm curious, how have people tended to do with their sleep problems on a stimulant like Vyvanse? It feels pretty counterintuitive to me and like it might make things even worse, but obviously I'm not the expert. Just hoping to hear some stories and reassurance that this might be the right move.
