I'm 17F and I've suspected I have ADHD for a long time. I'm basically sure that I would be positively diagnosed. However, my parents would absolutely never support me getting any sort of diagnosis or treatment - like full stop no discussion, it's not something that I could ever bring up in our household.
I'll be 18 in a few months, but I don't know if this even changes anything because I would still be on my parents' insurance? I live in the United States.
ADHD, or something, is making my life so much worse. But I literally have no idea how to go about any of this without my parents' knowledge. I don't want to let this keep destroying my life until I turn 27 or something and finally get off my parents' insurance.
I feel like everywhere I look, it's either minors who have full parental support (at least on the legal/financial level) or adults above 25 who are getting treatment and diagnoses. Is this just how it is? Are there just not any options for people like 18-20 who don't have their parents' support?
Sorry for the rambling post. Thank you for reading if you made it this far.
