So I haven’t been on ADHD meds for very long, I only got diagnosed end of April (F23) and was prescribed meds in June. I was started on 20mg of Vyvanse and was advised to increase the dose by 10mg every 15 days, until I go up to 50 (unless one of the doses felt fine, then I could stay at that dose).
Once I got to 40mg I felt it was working pretty well and haven’t increased the dose. I only ever felt the basic minor side effects a few days after each time I increased, but it went away eventually.
Ive been on this dose for a few weeks but the past few days I’ve been having AWFUL side effects. 2 days ago I was so talkative and hyperactive that I couldn’t stfu. I weirded my mom out by how much I was talking to her. I don’t even talk that much when I’m NOT on meds (I’m primarily inattentive and don’t typically struggle with hyperactivity). When I wasn’t talking or locked in on something, I was extremely irritable and was super mad if interrupted even if I wasn’t doing anything. Yesterday it was like I hadn’t taken any medication at all; after my online class I laid in bed for 6 hours despite having a whole study plan for the day and a list of errands to run. Today, about 2 hours taking it, my focus feels okay in class but I’m feeling super nauseous and have a really bad headache. I’m also pretty restless; my heart rate is higher than normal and I can’t stop fidgeting.
I obviously will bring this up to an actual doctor but it’ll take a while before I can get an appointment, so I thought I’d see if anyone has experienced the same thing. When looking online, I can’t find anything about side effects appearing weeks after being on the same dose instead of right away…should I lower the dose to 30mg (which I felt didn’t last me long enough) or try a new prescription all together?
