How will I know if the meds are working?

TLDR: I take 30mg IR 5:30am, 30mg XR 10-11am, and 15-30mg around 4pm only if needed. Still feeling overwhelmed by life and not able to accomplish all I should. I realize these are high dosages and Dr said I’m a fast metabolizer hence putting me on the highest doses.

Could this be a lifestyle/behavorial modification issue on my part or maybe the dose is too high rendering it useless?

Backstory: diagnosed ADHD in 2021 (at 34). I’d gone my whole life basically masking or compensating for the symptoms. Always achievement oriented, fairly successful by putting in the hard work, and going nonstop. Life threw some extreme curveballs my way and I suddenly couldn’t handle what seemed like the most basic things.. that’s when my adhd diagnosis came to be.

Problem is right now it doesn’t feel like the Rx is working as well as it should.

My stress and flustered state have felt off the charts the last few months. I’m not able to focus at work because I have a million meetings.

Each day goes by in the blink of an eye and at the end I still have a bunch of emails I haven’t answered. I get home and am completely wiped with no motivation to do anything at home because it all feels so overwhelming.

I’ve tried Adderall and Vyvanse. Vyvanse gave me terrible headaches when it was wearing off, so we had to stop it. Unfortunately it was the only medication I can remember finally thinking “so this is what it’s like for my mind to be quiet!”

Could this be lifestyle related? Could it be too high of dose causing the overwhelm?

I guess I just don’t think I’ve ever known what a good baseline for success is on the Rx’s. Maybe I need to switch Dr’s?
