Hello dear r/ADHD ! until now I've only been the occasional silent reader.
I'm 33 years old and am not officially diagnosed with ADHD, I have been to my local doctor to get referred to a psychologist to know for sure and to get treatment if necessary.
Sadly where I'm from the psychologists are pretty booked because apparently there are just too many people wanting to be checked out at the moment and the wait time is between 1 and 2 years.
So getting clarification and help is rather hard for me at the moment so I've come to seek the advice from the good netizens.
After always feeling rather held back by myself and thinking I'm not good enough to do anything else besides what I already do, I have decided to challenge myself and go back to school and learn a second educational vocation with the goal of going to university and eventually getting a degree in it. It will take me 2 years to successfully get through this school so I can advance further.
I am super nervous, in the past I've struggled in school to keep up the expectations other people had in me. Learning was a hassle and I had to wrestle with myself to do it, because I couldn't keep my focus for long enough. Even though when I did actually study I usually did well, especially in subjects I was interested in.
I'm also worried because nowadays I can fascinate myself for many many things, but the single interest usually holds for about a week at most before I shift my focus to the next victim.
Are there any tactics or helpful tips I can tackle in school to keep my focus, my interest and my spirit up? Especially studying in general for grades and exams are something I worry about.
