I talk to my doctor about a month ago about getting on Focalin XR. I’ve been on this prescription before and I feel like I need it again to function. Anyway, I went to the doctor and she agreed to prescribe me Focalin, however, she told me she’d also prescribe Lexapro because Focalin increased anxiety. I told her I’ve had a bad experience with antidepressants and Id rather not be prescribed antidepressants. She asked if I tried upping the dose of the prescription. I told her yes did that several times and it stopped working and was doing more harm than good to my health.
I’m just going to assume she ignored me because then she asked why I was so persistent on getting just a Focalin prescription and I at that point I just stopped talking because she just thought I was trying to feed addiction or something.
After realizing I’m not going to convince her that maybe just maybe antidepressants don’t work on everyone I pick up my prescription for Focalin and Lexapro. Well next day, I take just the Focalin and she was right it makes my anxiety worse but it helps me function better. My head is clear and I can finally get stuff done but I don’t want to feel the anxiety that Focalin gives me
I don’t trust that my doctor will give me good advice on this and fear that she might just get suspicious that I wanna abuse the medication. I feel like I’m better off talking to wall than talking to a doctor. Any advice? I really don’t want to take antidepressants but I also need the ADHD meds to function.
