This is SUPER embarrassing and I’m 99% sure it’s related to ADHD. I can not, for the life of me, stay awake during meetings. I do the commonly suggested tips like move my feet and chew on my cheek, but I will almost certainly doze off. It does not matter how energized I am, if I’m sitting down in a meeting, my eyes get heavy and I can not fight it.
I had the same problem when I was in nursing school. I could do clinicals for 12 hours without a care in the world, but when we would sit down after to discuss our days, I would fall asleep like 9/10 times.
I’m a nurse case manager now and this is just completely unacceptable. Even in meetings with patients, this happens. I have to figure out some kind of solution.
I am on medications, but I am not on stimulants and my psychiatrist will almost certainly not prescribe them to me for two reasons, one being I have a family history specifically of amphetamine abuse, and two, I also have bipolar 1 and am at a high risk for mania which for me usually leads to psychotic episodes. Do you think upping my Strattera dose might help? I’m at 80mg currently.
