Any Middle Aged folks who can help with a concise description of ADHD. I’m in the process of reconnecting with (after another long period of alienation) from adopted parents. I reached out to them to ask them for help as my life has fallen back apart again. It seems to Happen every 10 Years or So.
They are intellectuals and unless I provide them with a reputable source they will likely see it as me making excuses.
Last year I was diagnosed after a several month long comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation. Cannot believe I’m this age and I’m only now learning this about myself. 55F
They asked me some valid questions. In fact, they asked me the same questions that I’ve been asking myself all these years:
Why Don’t I have a retirement. Why don’t I have a savings? Why don’t I have a traditional job with the retirement 401(k)? Why haven’t I invested why don’t I cut coupons? Why don’t I plan for my future better? Why don’t keep track of sales. Why don’t I save save save? Essentially they wanna know why I don’t manage my life better.
Giving them the answer to this will help me to be more in my center and my truth well after the same time inspiring them to want to help
Funny because as smart as they are - I don’t think they’ve ever done a lick of research about the myriad of injuries s that can happen when a child is removed from their family of origin and then bounced around from place to place. ADHD is just one of them
