Ok so I’ve been taking XR adderall since I was diagnosed with ADHD and it’s been working really well for me. My psychiatrist has always kept me on an XR because my symptoms were always very severe and pervasive, so I needed the all day coverage, but recently I accepted a job where I might be working some later shifts and I was a little concerned about it wearing off during work. Since pushing the time that I take the XR back a couple hours really impacted my sleep, my psychiatrist lowered my XR dose and prescribed me a small dose of IR adderall (so I’m still taking the same dose overall) and told me to take the XR every morning and then if I’m working a later shift to take the IR to help me get through it.
I trialed the IR today by itself because I actually woke up too late to take my XR adderall and holy fuck. Not sure if it’s just because I’m so used to the slow build of the XR but the IR tablet hit me like a fucking BUS.
I’ve been super panicky and it feels like I have a hair trigger temper and I noticed the change within like an hour. I know these can be common side effects and it probably IS because I’m used to the XR, but has anyone else been able to tolerate a higher dose of the XR and not a small IR dose? Luckily I’m not working today so I’m able to chill but it’s crazy to me how DIFFERENT the IR makes me feel vs XR. With the XR I hardly even notice when I start to be able to function but with the IR even at such a small dose it feels so much more POTENT.
