My son (10) with ADHD is positively addicted to/obsessed with gaming. That’s literally ALL he wants to do (his tablet, the Switch, the Xbox, my phone, both of my computers, or even just watching gaming on YouTube).
I don’t want to squash his interests or take all gaming away, but I don’t even know what’s reasonable in this situation anymore.
He gets angry and cries when I take it away, and sneaks out of his room at night to get onto whatever device he can. Some I’m not sure how to put time limits on, like MY Echo Show. I have limits on every device that I know how to.
How long do you let your kids play if they are equally obsessed? I’d feel like a jerk if I took it all away, which is what I want to do at this point. What else do you offer when nothing else really interests them?
He does have Legos with motors, books, a piano, a bike, and he plays soccer, etc. He does like those, but not as much as gaming, which is always his first choice.
Thanks for your help.
