Hi all! Today was my first day on the generic version of vyvanse (produced by Alvogen) and it was pretty horrible. I had just about every side effect they warn about: mouth dryness, no appetite, jitters, jaw clenching, cold sweats, nausea, some unpleasant bowel movements, and rapid thoughts that definitely were worse than my unmediated self. I spent my whole work day panicking at my desk or running to the bathroom.
I’ve been on 36mg of methylphenidate for almost a year and switched over to vyvanse because the methylphenidate would go through my system way to fast. However, I never had any sort of side effects like this. My psychiatrist prescribed me 50 mg of the vyvanse to start because she said that’d be an equivalent dose.
For those who have experienced this, did it get better? I will admit, I drank 2 cups of coffee this morning and had a very small breakfast. Could that be the issue? Should I try opening up the capsule and taking half?
I’d love any advice on how to avoid these side effects because I’m stuck with these for at least a month.
