Does increasing dose increase the duration?

I take 30mg slow release Equasym (Ritalin) around 7-8 in the morning and around 2pm I feel like having coffee and get tired. I was thinking to increase the dose by 10-20 mg it could last till 4pm. Or is the only solution to have a second dose fast release in the afternoon?
I also feel the current dose is maybe slightly too low.
