Getting out of boredom depression
Post Body

Despite having adhd and depression almost my entire life, there's always 2 things that catch me off guard: seasonal depression and boredom depression.

With seasonal depression I've at least started to learn to schedule more frequent therapy and start taking vitamin d in September.

With boredom depression I never know when to expect it and have very few tools to get out of it. Right now I'm in the throes of it and only realized about an hour ago even though it's been happening for at least a week if not more. I've been slacking off in my work, canceling going into the office and instead telling myself I'll get my work done from home (usually I work better from home but mostly I've just been sleeping), forgetting obligations with friends and then canceling. Usually I can get through it or at least mediate it until it goes away by get out of it by either a) going for a run outside b) going out downtown to visit my friends (which requires biking there because of the bad transit) or c) going to do muay thai in the poorly ventilated gym on campus. None of those are an option right now because it's currently 40C where I live.

None of my other hobbies feel worthwhile or inspiring. I'll try drawing or playing video games but I just can't get into them. Trying to get work done just leads to me sleeping in front of my computer.

Anyone else experience this? Anyone have any advice for how to get out of it?
