So a couple weeks ago I (34m) was complaining about how it is difficult for me to concentrate a lot my mom said it was because of my "ADD." I thought she was joking so I laughed. Then she told me that she was serious. I was a very sick kid so I would spend weeks sometimes months in the hospital. She thought I knew because I was at the appointments when I was diagnosed. I reminded her that I was a child and couldn't remember everything. Before this revelation I told my therapist about my concentration and he gave me some stuff to work on none of it really worked well. So now that we both know I am debating on going on medication for it. Ever since being told I have noticed a lot of stuff that I do that is ADHD related. My family doesn't want me to go on medication though because they are convinced I will be a "Zombie." I told them not all of them are like that but I am at a point to just making an appointment with my physician and see if we can talk about it. Any tips on concentration and becoming more energized? Also my mom refuses to call it ADHD because she feels like it is worse even though it is the new term I explained to her. She also gave me my paperwork of diagnosis just in case if I need it.
