Do you admit your ADHD to employers?

I'm pretty open with admitting I have ADHD. I believe it will help other people to understand me, but I'm beginning to think I'm wrong. I just told a supervisor that I have it after I accidentally left a food wrapper on the counter. He says "I would be careful about telling people that where we work" so I asked why, and he says "can I trust you to do your job?" Which is imo a totally fair thing to say, because I'm not very responsible. But I feel like I can hyper focus on the things I need to do, that are routine for me, and if I do make a mistake I correct it right away.
