Roughly a couple years ago, I was in need of a new hobby or 2. I was recently divorced and most of my time went into my ex-wife. Well, I needed to start devoting time to myself and do things that I enjoyed, but I didn’t know what it all was.
Since I was a little kid, I always loved racing and building cars or things that had wheels and an engine. Understanding the complexities of how an engine works and the math and the science living in harmony and working seamlessly together (unless it’s a BMW, I swear those things come from the factory with issues) but I put that hobby off to the side for awhile cause life got expensive, but then it got cheaper and more peaceful, but I don’t like too much peace cause it’ll make me go insane. Then, I went to the tire shop for my car and I seen an ad for Pirelli tires that said “Pirelli, the choice of Formula 1” so I got intrigued and did some research.
Here is how F1 and ADHD go hand in hand:
-Drama. There is so much drama between teams and even within the teams to the point that it’s so funny at times.
-Tires. Different color tires have different effects and can cause faster lap times, but don’t last as long and forced the team to come up with various strategies all surrounded by tires.
-Hyper-fixate on drivers going around the track. I love it when they show the drivers POV as they are racing and hitting the paddle shifters and hearing the engine rev up and down.
I would recommend watching Drive to Survive on Netflix. Formula 1 has been so beneficial for my ADHD and it’s something that I never thought I could get into, but Formula 1 is so complex that it’s soothing for me. I get my stimulation through complexities and how much of my brain I need to use.
