Seeing a therapist who doesn’t necessarily specialize in ADHD but understands my struggles?

Post Body

I’m finally taking the leap to talk to a therapist. Unfortunately it’s really difficult to find specialized care that I can afford, options are limited. My health insurance kind of sucks too.

I went through a few therapists who misdiagnosed me with depression and anxiety. Eventually, I ended up stopping therapy because of this.

However, I saw a new therapist for the first time today. She doesn’t necessarily specialize in ADHD support, but she understands me and my struggles that I deal with.

It was honestly a breath of fresh air to validate me and they understand. Should I stick with this therapist? She can also refer me to a psychiatrist for medication management and has a decent referral list, a few who specializes in ADHD management.
