Is it safe to remove the gauze from my knee after surgery?

It’s been 9 days Post op and my knee is getting itchy where the incisions are. I had to remove the wrap earlier because it had moved down my ankle and some of the bloody gauze fell out so I threw them away. I tried to put the cotton covering the incisions back. The ace wrap is down my ankles again and it’s very loose. I want to unwrap it and wrap it back around better. Should I do that and should I throw away the old gauze and replace it with new gauze? Thanks.
