I was injured playing soccer and had surgery in November 2018 (Allograft meniscus repair). Went through two rounds of PT during COVID before trying to play again, and eventually went back out with a friend’s team when leagues started resuming in April 2021. I lasted all but 2 minutes on the field before my knee buckled inward again. It swole up pretty significantly that night. Post-injury evaluation the next day, the PA did manual tests and said my ACL seemed to still be intact, but didn’t order an MRI or follow up. Basically told me to stay off it for a couple weeks and gradually return to running, but that I shouldn’t try to play soccer again. Tried to snowboard in February 2022 with similar results - I couldn’t even push my board to get on the lift or ride slowly down the mountain without my knee slipping out of place. I’ve taken up distance running in recent years and have gotten decently competitive with it. I really do love and enjoy it, but I still feel so defeated. I hate that I’ll never play again and that I can’t even get out and kick around with family, or go on ski trips with friends. I’ve considered going back to an orthopedic for advice, but part of me doesn’t trust them anymore. Any insights or advice appreciated. Do I need to just let it go, or is there something I should know?
