To Surgery or Not to Surgery?
Post Body

Hi all. Still waiting on confirmation, but was told by a doctor today that I most likely tore my ACL. While I wait on results and ponder what to do, I wanted to hear some opinions of others. If you tore your ACL and had it fixed surgically - how do you feel about that decision? If you tore your ACL and did not opt for surgery - how do you feel about that decision? I would really love to avoid surgery as I am still fairly young (29F), but don’t want to regret it down the road.

Edit: Thank you all for sharing your stories. I definitely feel better prepared with questions for my doctor once the official results are in! Still crossing my fingers that it could be a partial tear, but given that I would like to get back to skiing as soon as possible, surgery isn’t sounding so bad. Good luck and good health to everyone with ACL problems, at least I have a cool little club of peers I have joined 😂

I am ultimately glad that I got the surgery, but if I could have a do-over I would do a lot of PT before making that decision. I didn’t do any PT at all before surgery.
