So, my last post about ethics seemed to be mostly responded to with an affirmation that yes, how we treat one another matters. Yet I am still perplexed, how can this be if we ascribe to a philosophy (which I see many in the course community do) that âbrothersâ or what I call my Relatives, can not harm their Relatives.
On a practical level, the most pressing examples to me is how are course students to treat others who have experienced themselves as victims of abuse, often in specific situations such as a relationship, a job, a class or race system.
If truly we cannot be harmed and we need not change what is unreal, then perhaps we could say âit is gods will that a genocide is taking place and so I accept it and need do nothingâ
However, ethically I have a problem with this outcome. I canât in any circumstance see passively allowing negative outcomes to arise for others in order to prioritize my own enlightenment to be what the course means by a âholy relationshipâ
In fact it reeks of the specialness that allows others to suffer so that we can win out. I deeply doubt that this is what the course means for us to practice as the loving chain of miracles that it claims will bring us to the happy dream.
