Frustration with getting measured. 40F/34G

Hey everyone, I don’t usually talk about my bust issues, but I wanted to share something and get some advice.

I’ve always struggled with having a big bust. Last year, I got measured at Lane Bryant, and they told me I was a 40F. That size worked well for sports bras, but with regular bras, my breasts would spill out at the top.

Today, I wanted to buy a halter neck dress, so I went back to Lane Bryant to get measured again. To my surprise, they said I’m now a 34G. I was shocked, especially since I’ve lost 30 lbs over the past year.

I’m feeling a bit discouraged because I already have a hard time finding bras that fit, a lot of the clothes I wear aren't really meant for women with big chests and this makes me feel even more insecure about my bust size.

I guess I would like some advice on getting the actual measurements of my bust so I won't keep buying the wrong sizes as well as something that is comfortable. And maybe some reassurance so I don't keep going crazy. It's a bit hard when I keep getting different answers for my size.

EDIT: I just did the measurements, I'm 34H by UK standards. Thanks everyone. I am happy to take any suggestions. I do need a strapless bra today so where can I shop locally? Can I shop at Lane Bryant or should I go somewhere else?
