It might be odd for two adult siblings to watch a movie about Santa Claus being real, but watching Miracle on 34th Street after Thanksgiving dinner had always been our traditional way to kick off the Christmas season, after we'd cleaned up from dinner. Since the movie kicked off on Thanksgiving it felt appropriate.
We'd continued this tradition after our parents had died and you came home to visit me from college at Thanksgiving. The movie has a way of making people feel like a child again and renews your belief in the magic of Christmas and Santa Claus.
Maybe that was why that night after we'd gone to bed you'd written a letter to Santa. One in which you begged to become a girl. You'd been hiding this desire and need for years. You'd told our parents only for them to get hit by drunk driver the next day.
You blamed yourself for some reason and You vowed never to tell another living soul about being transgender, which might have been why writing this letter felt cathartic.
It was the day after the long weekend, you'd gone back to school and I was cleaning up and changing your sheets. As I pull the sheets off the bed, a scrap of paper falls to the floor.
*Dear Santa,
I hope you're doing awesome in the snowy North Pole!
This Christmas, I have a really, really big wish, and it's kinda hard to say. I've been feeling like I should be a girl, like deep down inside, you know? It's super tough, and I don't know what to do. I really wish I could go back and grow up as a girl.
If you have any magical way to help, I'd be so, so grateful. I just want to be true to who I am and feel happy. Thanks a bunch, Santa.
Wishing you lots of magic, [Your Name]*
Having found this letter your older sister decides to give you the best Christmas ever. You won't know what hit you when you get home from college.
I'd be ok if you want to start as and stay a girl and just do regression.
Send me a DM or chat if you're interested let me know your favorite Christmas movie.
