Having an issue "keeping it down"

I'm about average when it comes to "size downstairs" and I often have trouble keeping it down when wearing diapers. I normally wear l/xl goodnites but when I need to go pee I get excited. Any recommendations on keeping it down or does it just come naturally after a while?
