This is my second client, and it is a pretty huge change. My last client was about middle school aged, of moderate functioning, and the most agreeable, praise motivated person I've ever met.
My new client is two, which I'm excited about, I love that age group; however he is nonverbal, unresponsive to social motivators, English isn't spoken in the house, and this is my first case with self harming behavior.
In addition, my BCBA can't be in person until next week, and we don't really know what this child is capable of, as somebody else did his evaluation. So we've decided that this week will mostly be pairing and recording baseline data. Do you have any advice for pairing with younger, lower functioning kids? All I know about him is that he is occasionally touch averse, likes little baby bum, toys he can spin or twirl, and being alone in confined spaces. I've bought bubbles, a fidget spinner, a slinky, and am washing a weighted blanket that I have. Any advice would be great as I'm flying by the seat of my pants.
