I've been in training as a call taker about a month. I'm early 50's with no prior experience in any related field. One dispatcher in a different organization said she'd never heard of anyone over the age of 40 making it through training, that older folks just can't retain all the info necessary to succeed. My intellect is sharp, but memorizing is sooooo hard. I get lectured on it multiple times per day. Everyone in my call center appears to have gone through training in late 30's or younger. The oldest trainee at our call center that my trainer can remember was mid-40s and didn't make it. Has anyone around my age made it through training that you know of?
