I called 911 for the first time today, and I think I didn’t need to.

Post Body

Hello. I will preface this by saying I didn’t know where to ask this.

So a coworker was telling me about how last Saturday someone was attempting to steal some things from his yard. He says he got up late at night and went outside, well as he does the motion light flips on. It’s around 3AM at this time. As the light turns on he looks out towards the main road and notices a truck with the lights turned almost off. No sooner than he noticed the truck and the light on his house turned on, the truck flipped on it’s lights and sped off down the road. Well he described as best he could and said the body style resembled and older Chevrolet.

Fast forward to tonight. I am driving back down the road with my SO, and pass my coworkers long driveway and lo and behold, a grey older model Chevy is sitting with the running lights on and the edge of the driveway. It was 11pm at this point. So I drive on past a bit and then turn around to go back and get a good look at the truck. I continue on backtracking, get a good look then stop at a gas station about a mile above where the truck was.

So I have a gut instinct to call 911, I do and as I am talking to the operator giving a description, the SAME TRUCK comes down the road and pulls in the gas station, cuts it’s lights off and parks about 50 feet behind me. Ny heart sinks and I am telling the operator as best I can without freaking out. The truck begins to rev its engine behind me and I tell the operator I am going to leave, but keeping him as up to date as possible. (I will also inject I have awful phone service the way I’m driving) So I turn right out of the gas station to continue towards my original destination, look behind me and the truck is then creeping out of the gas station. At this point I am hauling it and telling the 911 operator everything. My phone begins cutting in and out then the call fails. So I make sure to put some distance and then turn off to lose the truck.

Well I finally realize I’m nearly out of gas, so I stop at a gas station and then call the dispatch office directly instead of calling the emergency line to fill in any fine details I can. But ever since then I have been flipping out thinking I called and it would be a false report or something, leading to me getting in trouble. I’ve always been scared to call 911, because I’m just never certain what is an actual emergency.

Sorry it’s so long, I’d really love to talk to someone about it, cause I’m kinda scared of my own shadow right now. Thank you
