I Miss the 90's
Post Body

I miss the raw authentic music. Nobody plays live anymore and if they do, they use these fake instruments that have no soul to them. I miss going to concerts and dedicated music shops where you can browse CD's and make a decision as to which one you would buy. Nowadays everything's at your fingertips and that devalues most musical content. Combine that with the low quality of music released nowadays and you have the worst possible music ever created.

I miss not knowing what's happening in the world 24/7. I miss being focused mainly on my own life. I miss having to buy a newspaper to find out or turning on the news on the telly.

I miss landlines and the non-existence of mobile phones. You wanna reach a friend? Well, you'd have to make and effort to memorize their landline number in order to call them. Even then, you wouldn't be sure if they were home to pick up. I miss the feeling of not knowing what's going to happen. Despite all the so-called 'benefits' from smartphones, I think they're actually bad for us. I really don't like sacrificing my personal and private space, just so I can be able to communicate with my friends. Even then, the communication is not real and authentic. I feel as though communication has been turned into a game. Swipe left if you dislike someone, swipe right if you don't. It almost has a gambling element to it. I also don't like knowing what my friends are doing 24/7. I feel that that is such a disrespect to people's private space and they don't even know it. Like, I don't wanna know where you've went on vacation, what you've eaten and what you've done there. I wanna be able to call you and find out for myself, while simultaneously showing you that I care for you. I don't like having an AI machine inside my pocket that's going to record every single action of mine without my consent and tell me that it's 'normal'. I don't like social media and the extent to which people go to pretend that they have amazing lives. Social media has brought fakery to the lives of people.

I miss having private space and I miss meeting and seeing different people. Whether it's punk rockers, metal heads or techno-music fans - the 90's had so much more diversity.

Last but not least, I really miss the old cameras. You know, the ones where you had to develop the photos and actually had them in your hands. I really don't like that everything's in people's phones now.

We've given up on so much and we don't even know it.

Anyways, that's my two cents - I hope someone understands.
