Ok, hear me out as I walk through this...
Ben auditions to be in the newest season of 90-day fiancé. He comes in with his crazy relationship with a younger girl who's possibly a catfish. TLC is like, we'll go with it, and sends a crew to investigate Mahogany's side.
The crew either could not find her, thought the catfish-Mahogany was boring or thought the actual-Mahogany was boring.
Because Ben's story is interesting and TLC already invested time into it, they decided to cast alternate mahogany and create their own story. They don't let Ben in on it because they think he's a joke and wants him to be as genuine as possible. They also thought he was a narcissist, so they try to set up the most dramatic scenarios to make Ben come off as this daring romantic. But in reality, we’re all cringing and laughing at him.
TLC couldn't hire a too good of an actress to play Mahogany because Ben might get suspicious. So, they hire some crappy random actor. There is little effort into the plot or character motive because the real focus is on Ben's bizarre behavior. Therefore, we have no idea what's Mahogany's deal. They did, however, sent up the plot of Mahogany being flaky and Ben visiting a second time with a happy success to make Ben believe he's the "winner" of the show and proved everyone wrong.
TLC also noticed Ben's friend, Jessica, was also a narcissist and into drama so they let her in on it. They fed her these cheesy lines to say to Ben. If you look at her eyes during her rant, you can see she is clearly reading from a script.
The whole storyline is a meta-joke on the people who audition, and their dumb stories.
