Are you guys buying the stories on how Chidi was blinded..?

So first, the apple falling from the tree story which blinded his left eye. Seemed a little odd. Feel like youā€™d get a nasty shiner and maybe crack your orbital but okay, whatever, I guess it could happen right?

But then a little while later he tripped and hit a desk corner which blinded him in the right eye??

I feel like actually being blinded by either an apple falling or from hitting a desk is unlikely but I guess it could happen. But BOTH of those things blinding him? In separate incidents?

Heā€™s either the unluckiest guy in the world or something else is up? Iā€™m really not trying to be insensitive butā€¦something seems off, right? I mean what are the odds?? What do you guys think?

ETA: to the ā€œwhy would he lie?ā€ Questions being asked. More interesting story for tv? Embarrassed about how he actually lost it? Garners more sympathy because itā€™s unbelievably unlucky? Was blinded by an opp and doesnā€™t want to air that out for safety reasons? Born blind and is (wrongly) ashamed of it due to self perceived defectiveness? And finally, why do people lie about anything? Some people just lie.

Not saying thatā€™s the case. He could be telling the truth. Just responding to those asking why heā€™d lie.

ETA 2: guys itā€™s not that I doubt that these individual incidents could blind you. Itā€™s the fact that it happened twice.

ETA 3: Took another look at his eyes and Iā€™m officially locked in that neither was from an accident. I think he was either born blind or lost his sight due to some degenerative condition and is ashamed to admit it. Both eyes are uniform in how they look, despite being from two different forms of trauma. One rounded blunt force object (apple) and the other a sharp, blunt force object (desk corner). Theyā€™re both clear, unfocused, and loll upwards. No milkiness, glass eye, visible scarring, or sewn socket for either eye. The likelihood of them looking identical from different types of accidents with no visible markings around either eye? Sorry, canā€™t get on board. Iā€™m not being needlessly skeptical or insensitive- Iā€™m thinking critically. The story doesnā€™t make sense.

ETA: he was born blind or naturally lost his vision and Iā€™m dying on that hill. Apple falling? Maybe. Sharp desk? Maybe. Both? No. Depth perception issues be damned- those odds are still ridiculously slim. This isnā€™t final destination. Nobody (myself included) wants to believe somebody would lie about something so awful and nobody certainly wants to be the one to clock it as the fishy story it is because they donā€™t want to look like an asshole. Iā€™ll take one for the team and be that asshole. The emperor has no clothes and Chidi wasnā€™t blinded in two freak accidents.
