Joystick crumbling whenever I travel with it

Apparently, everytime I take this and the version of this on my travel trips, it gets chipped away like this. The one on the left stick had it's bottom removed recently, which is why I started this post.
Are there any ways to fix, replace, and/or deal with this problem?
