Why do updates get worse for the Xbox Controller?

Should be Xbox Ultimate Controller, but there's some weird rules here. I tried updating it to the latest firmware, but there's bad stick drift. So I put it back to the first and it's fine. Is there a good update inbetween or should I just be fine with the first firmware version? I'm not sure why this happened. Even being taken off the market as well.
