Death hallway?

So I'm playing for the first time. I'm on day 4. I found a hotel and decided I wanted to use the roof for horde night.
My plan: Create a long hallway that circles on top of the roof, making the walls 5 high and putting the wooden spike logs lining the bottom so that the zombies have to walk on them, and at the end of the hallway will be a set of stairs that lead up to the top of the wall (where I will be standing the whole time shooting arrows at them) will this work?
