I've been playing 7 days for a few years now. I started on my PS4 and I've since moved onto the PC. Because of the gap between PS4 alpha update and PC alpha update I'm enjoying PC way more.
Here's my issue. I've started mining where I find nodes on top of the ground. When I get to the point that I can start moving laterally to get more resources I do so because I have found that there is an abundance laterally and not just straight down. As I'm mining I will put wood building blocks straight down so I can put a ladder on them to get back out and I'll use the blocks as a roof to assist with preventing cave-ins. I will upgrade blocks on the roof to reinforced wood in a 5x5 square starting at the vertical escape blocks and at every cross section of upgraded blocks (every 5 squares) I'll place a support pillar. From the roof, the floor is 3 blocks down. When I get to far out from the escape path (approximately 15 to 20 blocks out) in any direction, the roof caves in and I'm left with a gapping hole in the ground. I've watched a few videos on YouTube, and they're telling me different things from go all the way down to bedrock and start there to dig small exploring tunnels to find the resources you're looking for and branch from there. But they aren't giving me a lot of info about how to prevent the cave in. Am I just not putting the pillars close enough together, am I not digging deep enough before branching out, or am I just digging out to wide. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you solve it. Any help would be appreciated.
