As an example I want to install poi mods, not overhauls.
Not necessarily with 7 days to die a lot of the mods are client side which is fucking amazing. So think about it this way anything that's related to you like HUD visibility your stats is usually just client side. Anything relating to core game mechanics like adding recipes or just changing fundamental things in the game is going to be server side. If you go to Nexus mods if you read the description how to install it will kind of tell you how to install it and then they usually add have client side install also.
If you question some mods what I usually do as I download all the mods dip them in a rare folder and send them via Discord or put them on a cloud they can just download.

No not necessarily. As I said you have to look at the mod and see if it's client and server side. It's kind of Hit or Miss sometimes you know but there are some client only mods if you want to just specifically go after those but it's not as much as the client and server Mods together
