Seeking information on a mystery disc format
Post Body
I was talking with my mom about the records she had growing up. She mentioned that my grandma's Brigadoon record (Brigadoon was one of my grandma's favorite musicals and then films once the film came out) was a 'weird' record. It was 'thick like the shellac ones but the size of a 45'. It 'didn't sound as modern as a 45 did'.
She didn't remember what speed it played at, or if the hole was big like a 45 or not.
Brigadoon with the info that she was a fan of it before it was made a movie dates it to 1947 at the earliest and 1954 at the latest. Was this a format? I've only found things about 8" 78 rpm records with a 2" label, but those were much earlier (1920s-1930s) and seem to primarily be in the UK (I'm in the northeast US).
