It seems that disk trays are more complicated than I thought (in that there's more to them than just plugging it in and maybe downloading some drivers). I'm someone that prefers to buy disks rather than be at the mercy of subscription services, so I'm wanting to get an internal disk tray so I can watch movies on my pc. It seems like most disk drives will be able to read everything (blueray, uhd, 4k, etc.) but that depends on software on your pc. Is this correct? Is software referring to drivers or 3rd party apps or both? People keep mentioning "flashing" being a requirement to read 4k disks? I probably don't have room in my tower for a full size tray, so would a slim tray fit? I would prefer an internal tray to limit the amount of stuff just sitting on my tower. Any advice helps! Thank you!
A pic of my tower in case that helps. The front and sides are glass, so no space there.
