How is it that a guy has the ability to take a football, hold it in his hand and swing his foot and kick that sucker 50 yards with the amount of control that it stops on a dime like Mitch can... How can they not have SOME ability to kick the ball with a holder?.... You can manipulate the football so well with your foot when unting, but you can't kick a field goal to save your life?? You have a Cannon attached to your hip bro.. I've watched you drop a ball down inside the five time and time again and angle it perfectly and all that for years ..so much so that it makes me think of training day every time you punt (you know I'm surgical with this bitch Jake!) but you can't kick a 35, 40 yard field goal... With the same Cannon I just don't get it... it's a big part of why we lost that game on Sunday is having to go for it because we had nobody on the sideline that could possibly kick a ball, but we have a guy who can punt the hell out of it though. ... I know the mechanics and everything are entirely different but it's still kicking a football

What tripped me out even more is seeing Mitch on the sideline standing there with his helmet under his arm late in the 4th like a weenie, while we're in a close game situation, why the hell wasn't he kicking into a net the whole time so if God forbid we need a field goal he has at least some muscle memory ?! What are those guys do all day during practice at some point during the day they should be practicing the other guy's job just as a precaution for emergencies.

This is literally all I was trying to say thank you so much lol.... He's a world-class punter if you go and read the article I just posted in my defense there's a professionals outlook on it and he talks about all the similarities.

All I was trying to say is that you'd think he'd be able to grasp it enough to get comfortable enough to do it for a quarter or two I'd rather put one up then go for it on 4th and 23... Chad Johnson, Welker, there's even linemen thatve been able to fill in for kickers at least on extra points I know Mitch can probably nail those but if they can do extra points he should be able to do a 30-40 yarder without kicking Kyle (juice) in the hand lol

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2014/12/24/placekickers-who-punt-punters-who-place-kick/20848951/

Here's a professional outlook on it

All I'm saying is they weren't even comfortable enough to let him attempt field goals I'm not saying that he has to be a f****** dead eye assassin I'm not expecting them to make him the kicker just in the heat of a game he should be able to put the ball in the air damn guys lol we're not talking about playing both ways here or playing running back and wide receiver, I'm not asking him to fill in for Trent Williams it's just you're an all-pro punter you'd think in an emergency they would have had him get comfortable enough with being able to do it in a jam..... It's not like he's got a super extensive workload in terms of getting familiar with the other scouting and homework on other teams and knowing what the offense is doing.. I mean he sees the field three times a game... I'm sure he can find a little time to make himself more valuable for the franchise that pays him millions

I mean Doug flutie used to do it!! Lol

All I know is imagine we don't have the season we think we're going to be able to have and it's left up to a tie breaker with the Cardinals to get into the playoffs and since they beat us on Sunday we don't make playoffs and mitch has to look at himself and realize that had he taken the opportunity to get comfortable kicking the ball a little bit, just a little bit to give us a chance we'd probably be in the playoffs... Instead we'd likely have missed our"window" financially and we have to start this climb all over... The dude makes millions of dollars it's okay to know how to do multiple things That's all I'm saying I'd feel like shit if I knew I let all my teammates down because we couldn't f****** kick a simple field goal... If Chad Johnson can kick PATs for the Bengals then I would look at it as a matter of pride if I was a punter there ain't no way I'm going to let somebody else fill in this franchise pays me millions of dollars to step on the field 2-4 times a game.. I think I'm going to make myself as valuable as possible for these team who's helped me change the lives of my family members and myself and in my personal time I'm going to get comfortable enough to kick a 25-yard field goal in case my kicker goes down God forbid... ... I'm talking like a 30-yard or so not '50s The man has a very talented leg I'm sure he could pick it up very easily if he put his mind to it...

And what's alternative? to just not have a kicker? and now we can't kick the ball Even in short yard situations so we just go for it and blow leads? Like what do you expect from us are kicker got hurt we're not asked to have two guys that know how.... That's a better option than what I was saying? Okay guys!! πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Go 9ers!!β€οΈβ›οΈπŸ’›

How is it s***? All I'm saying is why can't punters kick the ball if they're so good at punting obviously it's different but you're still swinging your leg to kick the ball obviously they understand placement and everything to get the back spin and all that so you think that they would understand the concept of the field goal more so than others would I'm just saying I'm not expecting him to kick a 50 yarder in the snow at foxboro, But you're a professional ball kicker you should at least be able to kick a 30 yarder or something it's not really a take just as someone who's played football their whole life like trips me out.... that fools obviously got a strong ass leg,

wasn't even really a take bro I just thinking out loud I saw a video today of all the different position players that have kicked extra points or short filled goals in emergency situations throughout time.

Lineman linebackers wide receivers, even John Lynch was on there for kickoff duties for tampa and it just made me think how are punters aTHAT bad at it they spend all day smashing their foot into the ball,

Most of them come from soccer or rugby or some s*** regardless they understand foot placement and drive and angling and all that enough to become a professional punter you think the dude could kick a little bit of a field goal

Right?; like god forbid the guy who sees the field less than anyone takes it upon himself to to learn how to be able to save his teammates asses in a jam. All these guys are acting like it's blasphemy to ask a guy making millions to go the extra mile and make himself more valuable...Thanks again!!!

Holy s*** Wright gets ran over just as I'm typing this That's crazyπŸ™ˆ our kickoff team needs to step it up seems like we're always having issues with special teams maybe THATS the coaching change we might need to look at

There's no rule in life saying you aren't allowed to know how to do multiple things... Being a member of the 49ers has changed his life and the lives of his family members and Bro sees the field for like 40 seconds a game... I'd take it upon myself to make myself as valuable as possible for my squad so that if I was needed I could at least give us a sho

If I was going to die without brain surgery and there was no brain surgeons left I would feel better to let a heart surgeon try their best knowing that they've gone to medical school and at least understand the human body then to just let myself die without taking a shot.

Not even going to get into it with you bro, played Ball t 13 years was all league 1 year old honorable mention the next with a torn rotator cuff my senior year, The only position I never played in an actual game was corner because I knew it wasn't for me lol have coached youth football for 4 years up until my town disbanded their program two years ago I also spent about six seasons as the sports correspondent for my local newspaper, primarily doing high school sports..., have to deal with yearly beggings from the school to come and work with the high school team... I had my own playbook when I was 8 years old bro (Not saying it was an effective one but I was drawing up plays) football's literally the only thing I've ever found that I loved to do The only thing that's ever really spoke to my soul if you knew the rest of my story you'd understand why I say that. Have a good day homie

I definitely don't think the loss was on Mitch at all Thats blasphemy All I'm simply trying to say is the dude is an amazing punter and you kick field goals with the same foot a guy who can take a ball and boom it 60 yd and drop it on a dime super consistently... All I'm saying is that I don't think it wouldn't be THAT hard for him to grasp the concept of field goals well enough to kick a 35 yarder or so or at least be able to be confident enough to attempt something like that I'm not saying the loss is on him or that he needs to be able to kick 50 yarders in the swirling snow like Adam vinatieri or anything I just think that dude who is so good with his foot it's the same foot haha,

WHEN YOU GO FOR IT ON 4TH AND 23 BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT EVEN CONFIDENT ENOUGH THAT HE'S GOING TO PUT IT IN THE AIR CLOSE TO THE UPRIGHTS IS JUST A LITTLE WEIRD TO ME IS ALL I'M TRYING TO SAY

I promise I didn't intend to sound like a hater guys I'm not that at all Lol
