I know I'll probably get down voted faster than a perfectionist pretty boy primarch can fall to Slaanesh, but we need a noblebright Eldar book. Hear me out, the Eldar storyline has been almost completely discarded since the end of the Ynaari series. Now they show up to give the Imperium either some corsairs to punch around, or to help out with a plot hook.
Give me Eldar at the height of their abilities. Show me the space elves gracefully decimating hordes of Daemon filth and burning the minions of chaos from a galaxy that's rightfully theirs.
I think this lack of haughty knife ears goodness could be rectified by giving Abnett the chance to write a one off Eldar book, or maybe a three book series, that shows us that the Eldar are still very much in the game. I'd love to see the Yvraine and the rest of the gang organizing a mission to rescue what's her name from Unky Nurgs garden, and while I don't think they should necessarily succeed I believe it would be great to show the heroism and commitment of the Eldar in the face of Nurgle's absolute corruption.
Or perhaps they could launch a strike into the heart of Slaanesh's pleasure pits to acquire the last crone sword. Confronting and resisting the vile tug of their own inner decadence as they carve into the deepest sanctum of the Prince of Pleasures hedonistic domain. Again, I don't think they should succeed here, unless we're getting some sort of end times scenario; but perhaps one of the main cast could sacrifice themselves in an epic showdown with Daemon Fulgrim while the survivors escape with an important but not paradigm altering artifact.
Or maybe they could all just get slaughtered by a single Salamanders Primaris Leutinant who shows up for no reason in the third act. Either way I meed more pointy ears in my life.
Edit:
So there's been a particular series of comments accusing Eldar fans of being childish and just wanting the Eldar to be handed a win. So for clarifications sake, and if anyone missed these:
"I don't think they should succeed here, unless we're getting some sort of end times scenario"
"and while I don't think they should necessarily succeed I believe it would be great to show the heroism and commitment of the Eldar in the face of Nurgle's absolute corruption."
I am in no way advocating for a free win, or any win. I'm saying that the Eldar, an interesting faction with near endless possibilities for well written archs, should be given a fair shake in the novel department. Not every Eldar battle needs to be a pyrrhic victory, not every avatar of Khaine needs to get taken down by some unnamed adversary, and the race as a whole doesn't need to be written as cartoonishly arrogant memes of themselves. Yes I'm generalizing a bit but you get the point.
