What would happen if the Tau were to feed the Kroot the bodies of any Space Marines they can recover from various battlefields?

I know the Kroot take on various aspects of the creatures they consume, it makes sense to me that the best "food" they could consume would be the Astartes themselves, or perhaps Ogryns if they can't get the former. When Kroot gain positive characteristics, aren't they able to pass that on to their offspring? If so, the Tau might be able to develop some excellent shock troopers... Has there been any known instance of such a thing? Or am I completely off my rocker?
