Post Body

I have a 99 3rd gen that I've recently acquired. Been doing little things here and there with the amount of time and money I have. But most recently Ive come into an issue with my tranny... Very hard times getting it to shift into 1st especially on chilly mornings. Took it into mechanic to get possibly get the clutch replaced and/or check for any Freeplay in the clutch/bushings.Well mechanic buddy called me back and told me the bad news that id need a new transmission.so far quote is around 3k for new one and labour. What my question is, is this the right call? I'm not too sure if replacing the entire transmission is the right call? Can't just fix the broken component? Kinda looking for some reassurance that paying this guy to put in a used tranny is a good idea or not. Heres a pic of the rig
