Noob trying to print cube earrings

TLDR: How can I make this design work with minimal to no supports (if even possible)? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:415776

Printer: Lulzbot Taz Mini 1
Filament: Polymaker PLA

I've tried to print this and a few designs like it, and I cannot figure out how they do it. Other people have obviously done it. I print on painters tape, and I've tried with and without glue, a few different orientations, but not a brim or raft. Tried that for a few other pieces, and could not get them off well enough. Would the best bet be to print with supports/raft and sand them of as best as I can?
