Post Body

Today, we round out the last of our Darkin related champions, Kayn. Kayn’s gonna be a 2 parter as Kayn and Rhaast have similar kits with different goals. 1 being a slippery high damage killing machine and the other being absurdly hard to kill. And honestly I’m still figuring out the Rhaast half so bear with me. But today we will have our shadow assassin.

  • If you’re interested in any previous installments, you can find them here
  • All champions are chosen at random via Ultimate Bravery
  • All champions in this series will be built to a level 20 fantasy but that doesn’t mean you have to be level 20 in order to enjoy most of the core mechanics of the champion
    • Kayn unlocks a base level of his scythe’s power at level 6 and spends the rest of the game honing his assassin skills to be slippery and burst with sneak attacks.

      • A peerless practitioner of lethal shadow magic, Shieda Kayn battles to achieve his true destiny—to one day lead the Order of Shadow into a new era of Ionian supremacy. He wields the sentient darkin weapon Rhaast, undeterred by its creeping corruption of his body and mind. There are only two possible outcomes: either Kayn bends the weapon to his will... or the malevolent blade consumes him completely, paving the way for the destruction of all Runeterra.

      • For the flavor of the scythe, we’ll probably have to use a Scimitar since it’s the only slashing finesse weapon and we have to use finesse for sneak attacks.

    • Slippery Mind
  • Pros
    • Pretty spooky damage combining Eldritch Smite, Booming Blade and another 8d6 damage from Sneak Attacks and you can use Wails of the Grave to spread the 8d6 sneak attack damage to another enemy
    • In flavor AoE from Sword Burst
    • Slippery and hard to hit.
    • Talented
  • Cons
    • Very limited Spell Slots. At level 5, Warlock only has 2 of them so you can only get 2 smites off
    • Low Wis. You will get feared and charmed a lot. And your overconfidence in your training and ability will often let others catch you off guard
    • Your real walk through walls option doesn’t come until level 18 and your earlier pseudo version in Gaseous Form costs a spell slot.
