Sooo, i planned on making a wizard for the first time, rifled through the available schools/subclasses and found them all fairly lame, until i found the Lore Master UA, which spoke to me on a flavor level, because that's what i imagined a wizard to be like. I went to my DM and asked, he said yes, and then i found out that this is apparently regarded as OP af. We'll see if that's really the case, especially because it's played by me.
Now, i want to play a fairly optimized character, as that is what the rest will be doing as well. We have a fighter, a cleric and an artificer. The campaign will be Descent into Avernus, so (hopefully) endgame will be level 12-13.
How would you go about building this? I want to be somewhere in the middle between utility and blasting, as the artificer will propably be mainly utility. The plan was to start high-elf, 16 INT, 14 DEX 14 CON, get INT to 20 asap and then get Warcaster or Resilient (CON). Do you have better ideas, ideas for great synergies, synergies that pop up because of the Lore Master abilities? I will propably go with Sage Background because this will maximize the use i get out of the "expertise" on Lvl 2.
Thanks in advance!
