EDIT: I found the solution for anyone reading this in the future. It turns out my filament sensor was malfunctioning and by keeping it plugged in, the sensor would overheat and melt the filament in the extruder, causing it to not come out properly. By unplugging it, my printer now works good as new.
I have a Prusa MK3 and recently I've been having issues with extrusion. I had this issue the other day where some layers would just randomly extrude incorrectly. Even more recently, though, my printer has failed to be able to lay down any filament.
When loading filament, it generally pushes out filament, sometimes having difficulty. When I went to print something though, not a single bit of filament would come out and all I could hear was a clicking noise of the pulleys. I tried a number of things to try to resolve this issue.
I replaced the nozzle to no noticeable effect.
I opened up the extruder to view the pulleys and ensure they were clean and in the proper place. They seemed fine as they were in the correct place and had no filament stuck to them.
I then, desperate to find a solution, removed the PTFE tube from the Hotend to examine it. It seemed clear of debris and only had minimally-frayed edges. It doesn't seem like this could have been the cause for the issues earlier.
I am just at a complete loss on what to do here. I have a brand new nozzle, the pulleys seem correct, the PTFE tube looks fine, I'm not sure what the issue could possibly be but, whatever it is, it is preventing me from using my printer whatsoever. Does anyone have any advice on what I could try now?
EDIT: Also, whenever I would try to load the filament and then unload after finding the extrusion failed, the filament would often come out in a chewed state.
While I'm not sure it has anything to do with this problem, for the past few months I have had this issue that arose where the filament would very frequently get blobs at the end of it and have to be unloaded and reloaded for me to begin printing. This got to the point where I had to start a print immediately after loading before a blob could form and I could never do two prints in a row because, after doing the first print, the filament would make a blob in the extruder and be impossible to extrude.
